HOW? Using software such as Microsoft Excel(TM), MS Works(TM) or other spreadsheet that is most likely available in-house can speedup analysis calculations, and provide a an easily accessible record. Using a spreadsheet allows you to embed all the mathematics into appropriate columns so the analyst simply inputs the value of a titration (or other test) and the bath concentration as well as the appropriate addition is calculated automatically.
WHY? There are several reasons why good records can help shop operations, after testing is complete it can quickly be printed out for the person that is responsible for making additions. Shops that subcontract to companies that do government work are usually audited on an annual basis by those companies to see that all of the various process solutions have been maintained at specified concentrations, and analyzed at appropriate time periods. Other information can easily be calculated from the spreadsheets after they have been used for a period of time, such as quantity of a particular tank ingredient, or even analytical reagent being used over a time period (week, month, etc.) to better plan purchases.
